About the Urban Mediamakers

The Urban Mediamakers Film Festival (UMFF) is a three-day event that promotes and supports a strong, diverse independent media arts community emphasizing the work of a diverse group of people -- in the United States and abroad.

Beginning in 2001, UMFF is a player in the continuous movement to attain diiversity in media. UMFF provides an educational and entertaining retreat for industry professional and aspiring filmmakers to come together under the umbrella of creativity.

Our goal is to allow the public to view exceptional independent work, which in turn will peak their interest in supporting independent filmmakers around the world.

The Urban Mediamakers Film Festival is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt, not-for-profit organization. Guided by past wisdom and reflecting the new generation of mediamaking, we are dedicated to thinking out of the traditional box. The festival is held annually in October in Atlanta, Georgia.

"The Movement in Progress through Independent Filmmaking" is the theme of the 7th Annual Urban Mediamakers Film Festival (UMFF) in Atlanta, Georgia, October 17-19, 2008. This year, the Urban Mediamakers are blending filmmaking and activism. We recognize media as a powerful tool of choice for making positive change. Through drama, comedy, action, documentaries, television shows and videos, UMFF 2008 will showcase independent projects from around the world that are entertaining, invoke thought and action on social and positive media issues. Join us for this fantastic event!
